HELP - Issue with Folders & Icons

I pulled up my folders from the icon on my desktop - when the folder opens up everything is fine but after about 2 minutes the folder will blink...if I am in the process of copying one file from one external hard drive to another the process will stop...but if I play media from the folder it will play fine...what is going on and how do I begin to fix it???

I had the same issue.

Close google drive (it runs in the background). this fixed the problem with my system. I've got Maverick.
