Help .kext error PLEASE HELP

ok this is my first problem iv had with my mbp, i thought i would see if i could stop the whine by taking out the file called IOPlatfomPuginFamily.kext. In thinking it migh be why i was getting average battery life i decided to put it back, so, i clicked and drageed it back to the extension folder. now when i start my computer theres a quick ? mark that flashes when i boot and whne it starts up it says that file was installed incorrectly, as well as another file like it whihc i didnt touch. how do i fix this? is there away to recover the extensions folder without formatting my computer? this is my first mac and iv only had it for a week so try to answer in macnewb terms lol thanks for the help!

Have you tried booting up from the restore discs, opening disk utility and Repairing Permissions?

So if I am understanding you correctly, you took the kext out and put it back in before reboot? If so, you've got a permissions problem. As long as the kext is still in there, you should boot up using your system restore cd. Using the Apple Disk Utility, repair permissions on the hard drive, reboot, and it should work.

k how do i do this? i have two cd's in front of me mac os x install disk one and install disk two, i dont see a restore cd, maybe mine didnt come with one?

Insert disc 1
Restart computer whilst keeping the C key held down.
Select your language
As soon as the menu bar appears, look for 'Disk Utility' (think its under the Apple menu)
Look for Repair Permissions
Click it

That's how it should go from memory, but I might not be spot on.
