I have just come back to the UK from the US and I bought my friend a blackbook back with me. I got a really good deal on it and he saved a lot of cash by not having to splash out on the crazy expensive UK prices.

I brought it home in a laptopcase and after opening it upI noticed that it had been in sleepmode for the entire flight and there are marks all over the screen from where it was touching the keyboard and touchpad:eek:

They are only visible from certain angles and are not easily noticable when the screen is on but I know that my friend is not going to be happy with it. He hasn't payd me any money and if the notebook isn't perfrect he may not want to.

Is there any easy way to fix this? Will it get better with time or is it going to be permanent?

The laptopis less than a month old,is there any chance of it being covered under warranty?

Any help/advice/feedback would be gretaly appreciated, thanks!

Are they scratches or just finger grease which have stuck to it? There are felt pieces which you can put inbetween the screen and keyboard but it sees like a major design flaw if that is to be needed, atleast as long as apple doesn't inform the costumer or supply something which helps. If you can't get it away I'd call Apple and talk to them about it.

The computer has hardly been used so it is definately not grease. I just checked it again and the marks are not on the surface of the screen, they seem to be inside the panel itself.

I was thinking that maybe the heat build up caused by the computer being on and enclosed in the laptop case for 8 hours could have caused it.

No. When a Macbook is closed, it goes to sleep and everything acts as if it was off, so no heat would have built up.

Yes, Apple will cover it under warranty if the marks are under the LCD screen and not on the front part.
