Well, here's a weird one... I have a rattle in my 17" PB. Couldn't figure out for the life of me what was happening - was it a loose screw, spring, etc. As it turns out, there seems to be a loose bit of broken(?) plastic (or maybe metal) in the Kensington security slot. So, this thing, whatever it is, is just bouncing around.

Question: is this portion of the PB internally "sealed" from the rest of the logic board, etc.? In other words, will any harm come from this broken piece of flotsam bouncing around, or can I safely ignore it?

I suppose the second question is how it got there. This unit was only 3 months old when I bought it, so it's still under warranty. I can't see somebody going out of their way to shove something in. I wonder if there's something's broken internally. However, except for the buzz-whine that people seem to hear on their MBPro and some other G4s, I don't seem to have any other problem.

I tried digging it out, but it's pretty much impossible.

Thanks!

Any suggestions? Thought somebody out there would be a guru on the inner workings of the PB.... thanks in advance.

On other laptops I've taken apart they security slot has always been separated. I suspect it would be the same for you...
