iv just brought a GTX 980 for my Mac pro 3,1, 2008, 20GB ram and 8 core processor. i use the card for gaming purposes only using a SSD drive to boot windows 8.1 and then have another SSD drive to boot OS X yosemite 10.10.1.

when i boot in windows everything works fine but when i boot on my OS X the screen stays black with no apple logo (as i expected) but when i get to the login screen and log in it brings up a message "your computer restarted because of a problem" after looking into the report it seems to me a kernel panic issue, iv never had this problem before when i had my Mac flashed GTX 680.

when i installed the GTX 980 i had updated the nvidia driver to the web driver for the Quadro K5000 for Mac and installed the CUDA driver CUDA 6.5.37 for OS X.

please help!!

update

iv just updated my Yosemite to 10.10.2 so i could update the web driver now my mac pro just turns on keeping a black screen and then turns back off

right iv managed to kind of sort this out by connecting my sad drive to my mac book air and restore the ssd drive back to when it worked, after a few hours i have to to a semi stable state. when i restart my mac pro takes a couple of tries to start up, once logged on this is the kernel panic report i get.

fixed

if anyone has this issue in future... the CUDA i had installed was causing the corruption, i removed the CUDA driver from Preferences then rooted to macosx/library/frameworks and deleted the CUDA.framework
