Hello everyone. I need help guys. I've been trying to set everything up for three days from morning till night and nothing works. I have: Mac Pro 5.1 2012. RX6950 XT video card. There are two OSes, Windows and Sequoia. Problem: initially, when I bought a reference AMD 6950 card and inserted it into the Mac, it didn't start at all, well, not at all. Even the hard drives didn't load. I successfully flashed the video card through my neighbor's computer. I downloaded the original BIOS from the card, ran it through fix and loaded it back. The computer started. Windows works well and stably. But MacOS doesn't see the card at all. And what haven't I done. I did a bridge and did a spoof. In short, the maximum I could achieve was that in the About Device tab, the name changes from the word display to the original name. But the video card is still recognized as 14 MB and has a white screen, so there is no metal support. Have a chat. Can you give me some clear instructions on how to fix this? By the way, simbol installed imacpro 1.1.

Seems you did not read the part of OCLP instructions where NAVI GPUs are not supported with a MacPro5,1 after Monterey.

Any GPU drivers that require AVX/AVX2.0 after Monterey will NOT work with Macs that do not support it, so, all the NAVI and NAVI2 family of GPUs stop working after Monterey when installed into a MacPro5,1 or any other Mac that does not have a processor with AVX/AVX2.0 instructions support.

Which graphics cards still work? Will Vega 56 still work?

VEGA family of GPUs partially work, but there are several reports of problems by different users.

Polaris generation of GPUs works best and is the family of GPUs that OCLP developers test after Monterey, so, stick to a RX 460/560/470/570/480/580/590 to avoid issues with VEGA.

Thanks for explaining. I didn't see that point though. It turns out that the only and most powerful video card for our old MacPro 5.1 is the RX580. And no hacks will help here.

Nope, the AMD Vega VII Reference Card as well as the blue Vega VII Pro card works absolutely flawless in the newer Mac OS systems. However, only caveat, -you need Pixlas cable to operate. But it was really easy to install.

The RX590 is marginally faster than an RX580. However, Vega is notably faster if you get a good card. OpenCore docs have suggestions:

What GPUs to avoid
What GPU to get

You may have better luck getting a good Vega solution using their guidance. Note the above pages are from regular OC docs, rather than OCLP docs. So keep in mind the AVX1/2 advice that applies to us 4,1 and 5,1 owners to avoid Navi.

The info about Navi cards not working on 4,1 or 5,1 after Monterey was really hard to find - it isn't in the troubleshooting sections. Turns out it's listed on this page - but you have to scroll down to the bottom, and click the disclosure triangle for the "GPUs requiring patching in different macOS versions" section.

AMD Navi (RX 5000 - 6000 series) GPUs are non-functional in Mac Pro 2008 to 2012 using Ventura and newer due to lack of AVX2 support.

This seems like something OCLP could fix via root patching. In Ventura and later, remove the supplied Navi drivers and substitute the Monterey Navi drivers.

I have a question. Okay, I flashed the rx6950 card and my 5.1 starts up and everything looks great in Windows. Let's put MacOS aside. The question is, I wanted more than 16GB of video memory and I bought the rx7900 24GB. But with this card, the Mac again doesn't start up at all. I don't need MacOS, I want to at least be able to use this power in Windows. But the fact is that the Mac doesn't start up at all, just like it did with the 6950 before I flashed it. The question is, is there a patch for flashing the BIOS or a firmware for the 7900 so that the Mac starts up. Or is the 7900 already too much of a Mac for an old man?

No patch for making a RX 7xxx MacPro5,1 compatible.

You can't power on a MacPro5,1 with a modern AMD card without the patch, the patch is necessary to make the GPU to work with the ancient MacPro5,1 EFI 1.10.
