Dear all,

I experience a very odd problem ever since I updated to Mojave 12.2. I run a 2019 Mac Pro with the 580X graphics card connected via Thunderbolt to an LG 5k2k. This setup has been everything I ever wanted. The LG 5k2k offers me near retina resolution. I have been using it with the display settings "more space" in system preferences set to the maximum

After upgrading to 12.2 and rebooting everything looked ginormous. I though the Mac had defaulted to the LGs "native" resolution as macOS sees it. However, entering system preferences and selecting the scaled menu under display settings, I soon found that I can only shift this to one more step of "more space" instead of two. This means that text and everything else is still way to big for my taste.
This cannot be related to some hiccup with the cable, as connecting my M1 MBP to the display with the same cable still offers me the "old" configuration.
SwitchResX does not really help as it only allows me to find a resolution that is equal to the old one in size, but it only offers blurry text.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, RDM works. It does not solve the problem, though, as it leads to the same possible resolutions as SwitchResX.

To be more precise: The resolution is generally fine (still too big for a few icons), but what bothers me most is the standard text size which is way too large now.

Anybody else with an LG 5k2k 32" screen who can confirm this and point to a solution?

I'm having the exact same problem since I upgraded. Either the UI is too small or too big now.
I've also tried SwitchResX after it occurred with the same result.
It's a Dell U4021QW 5K2K display on my MacBook Pro.
This seems to be a Bug with macOS 12.2
I'm going to report it as a bug.

Thanks a lot! This is super annoying. None of the fixes suggested in the other thread works for me. Let's hope Apple comes up with a fix soon (i.e, before 12.3 gets released)

Hi MacRumors group,

Just wondering if anyone else has had 3840 x 1620 resolutions disappear after updating to 12.2. I've got a 2021 MacBook Pro 14" and I know there were some thunderbolt kernel issues in the previous version. On the plus side I've not run into those, but on my two 5k monitors (one LG Ultrafine and one LG HDR 5k (widescreen) the 1620 vertical resolution has dissapeared from the options, and yes I've tried the option click. It now jumps from 1418 to 2160 with nothing in between.

Well at least I know I'm not going crazy! I just went to file a bug report and there isn't even the option to tell them you're running 12.2. Not an auspicious beginning.

I heard that some resolutions removed in 12.2 are back in the 12.3 beta.

But I hope people will file Feedback asking for more resolutions anyway, as RDM etc don't work very well on Apple Silicon.
