HELP! Mac Pro will not past POST

Hello all, having a bit of a head scratcher with a recently purchased 2010 Mac Pro. The computer powers on, all fans run including GPU, but will not chime or past POST. Power light on front panel is solid as well.

What seemed to trigger this problem was unplugging the power from the wall, moving the computer from the left side of the desk to the right, and plugging it back in. After that, it would not work. Prior to moving it, everything worked well.

I have done the following tests:

- Removed all hardware, including gpu, USB card and hard drives.
- Removed all ram modules except one, shuffled all 4 ram modules into slot one.
- Disconnected power over night and reconnected in morning
- Pressed diag LED button (see picture, not sure what these leds are telling me)

All of the above have yeilded the same results

Things a haven’t tried:

- Replacing small battery on logic board.

The only thing I can think is that there may be a problem with the PSU? I have an older 2008 MP 8 core, would the PSU work from that?

The specs for the new MP are:

2010 3.46GHz 6 Core
32GB RAM
250GB Samsung 850
2TB Storage drive
USB 3.0 card
R9 280X video card

LEDs look good. Following the troubleshooting steps in the service manual you are around step 7 or so. Step 8 is check fans for spinning. It does suggest if all LEDs are good but no chime to reset NVRAM. Might want to get the service manual and continue the troubleshooting procedure.

A 2008 PS cannot be used in 2010.

Checked all the fans and they were spinning.

I cannot reset the NVRAM because it does not POST and therefor the keyboard is inoperable.

Where do you get the service manual from?

You mentioned it's new, which I assume means you just got this from a seller. If so, probably best to let them know to see if there's any warranty. You've tried the things I would have suggested first. Now I would try reseating the CPU. But I would check on warranty before doing that.

Definitely contact the seller. It doesn't work.

I had a 2011 did a similar same thing. I discovered that it was the AMD graphics card. After some research I found out that, evidently the glue they used to hold, the graphics chip onto the board would get old and hot and cause it to become disconnected. A common problem for 2010s and 2011s. I had to just get rid of it. There was no fix. Apple was offering free repairs but discontinued offering it for 2010 & 2011 models.

You mentioned it's new, which I assume means you just got this from a seller. If so, probably best to let them know to see if there's any warranty. You've tried the things I would have suggested first. Now I would try reseating the CPU. But I would check on warranty before doing that.

It was purchased from a close friend, and was 100% working when I received it, and only did this after it was unplugged which is so strange

I removed the graphics card from the machine and still had no chime

Just a black screen. Fans are running on the GPU at idle
