Hey guys,

Im in the middle of my final exams and last night I accidentally dropped my phone on my Mac keyboard. It appears to have cracked the bezel beneath the screen and across from the MacBook Pro label, I have attached a picture. Worked for an entire summer to get this laptop it was basically this or a car so I would really appreciate it if somebody was aware of a way to fix it. Its not affecting the screen but its still an eyesore. Any help would be really appreciated!!

yeah the glass top not easily replaced.

my 2012 macbook pro top right corner smashed and bit missing but not on screen area so I just put some clear nail varnish on it to prevent it growing.

I'd guess be easier replace whole lid on newer models.

I'd definitely live with it if no AppleCare+. I don't mean to be insensitive (actually trying to help) - but it's not as bad as I expected - when I read the thread title I expected a massive crack - it's just a tiny impact point. If AppleCare+ definitely replace. If not, your laptop has character and uniqueness now. :)

I too spent years saving up for my MBP. That would hit me really hard too. :/

I was trying to figure that out. I have a 13' 2017 MBP TB. And that bottom part for me is plastic -- so no idea how it looks like a glass impact point for you. But it looks like it may just be on the bottom part and not part of the main glass screen? At least that's what it looks like to me - so that may be a good thing and mean it doesn't spread.

Hopefully some of the more advanced posters will post their opinion too as this is my first ever MBP and I've only had it for a month. :p

it not as bad as some:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7995345

I am not familiar with the new models and cannot pass comment.

It is REALLY EASY to close this laptop lid with something between the body and the screen. I've done it probably a dozen times already. So I always make sure to SLOWLY and lightly close my laptop lid because if there's a cable or anything between the body and the screen, you're gunna crack it - guaranteed. lol. Has me worried just thinking about it.

Every other laptop I've owned (Dell, etc...) I slam the lid down pretty hard. lol.

Edit: Wow it does crack (from the pics in the above link) - interesting.

my 2012 model was dropped (by last owner not me) but other than dented corner and small bit of the top glass missing it solid and it old so dont care it damaged.

IF I was to buy a new apple (i won't) then I'd get apple care just in case.

They don’t have to replace the entire display to fix that. It’s just a strip along the bottom of the display with the MacBook Pro text printed on it. It’s attached with adhesive.

Here’s an example for a 13” 2016 Retina MacBook Pro.

90 bucks though. Although way, way cheaper than a new display, still way too expensive for what it is, IMO.

I’d just go the colourware route, or maybe see if Slickwraps can make one for you. I believe they will do custom decals if you contact their customer service dept.

[doublepost=1540360844][/doublepost]Hello I have this exact same problem. Our MacBook Pro 13" with touchbar. My daughter has tried to clean the bottom of her screen with her finger, when this cracked, she said that she was shocked. I am talking to AppleCare now about this. Check this site out also https://www.reddit.com/r/macbookpro...ook_pro_2017_bezel_crack_does_anyone_know_if/

Mine's a 2018 MBP 13", I accidentally closed it not knowing my dust plug is on the keyboard.. I found a front glass bezel logo cover for MBP A1708 on ebay which costa for only $9.99. I think the real struggle here is on how to freaking remove the damaged bezel and replace it with a new one. HELP!!!

Does anyone know if colorware or any other skin brand still makes it?

Or I suppose I could buy a black sticker sheet + the bezel of eBay (to use as a template) and make my own...
