Hello,

I have had the MBP for about 3 days now. I bought the 2.2Ghz model.

I have noticed that it gets very hot while sitting on my lap. I would be doing simple stuff like surfing the web and listening to itunes. The part that gets hot is on the bottom below the keyboard-- more towards the top and on the top sides can get hot.

Also, The Power box "MegaSafe" gets hot also.

I'm not sure why its getting this hot, my Dell wasn't near this, I can understand it getting a little warm, but not to this point.

I have read a little on the fourms. I found a program called SMCFancontrol.

It says 54c and 2000rpm. I'm just loaded with safari only.

Anyone know what the idle and standard heats should be? I was using the laptop las night and after doing some "standard" work, I had to take it off my lap and go and put water on myself where I was using the laptop, I still feel a little burning sensation from that use as we speak.

My question is, Is this normal?

it is normal.

Your dell didnt have an aluminum casing, so you're going to feel more heat as it transfers to the case.

same concept with the power brick. Its 85w flowing through a 3x2x1 box. Its going to get hot.
