So I've tried with four different mice, three with dongle and one with bluetooth.

(Note: none of them are Magic Mice, as I don't have one)

They all work perfectly, but when I turn on the Magic Keyboard they immediately freeze and don't move at all.

Does anyone know the reason for this? Is there a fix? Does the same happen to you?

Thank you.

Well, that's a new one to me! I'd try deleting the Magic Keyboard from your Bluetooth devices. Turn off the Magic Keyboard. In Ventura, you go to System Settings > Bluetooth > click the "i" to the right of the device you want to remove > Forget This Device... (NOT "disconnect"). The procedure might be slightly different in earlier macOS versions. Then turn the Magic Keyboard on again and re-pair it.

Then I'm at a loss except to suggest perhaps trying a new Magic Keyboard and/or a Magic Mouse.

Boot your Mac into a Safe Mode and check the behavior there:

If problem persist -- IDN, the keyboard is odd, or there's weird short circuit on USB ports, or on Mac itself (or maybe from some other device that's connected)

Thank you appitech. It did work in safe mode, and that made me realize what the problem was.

I have Karabiner-Elements installed which disables the internal keyboard when the Magic Keyboard is connected. And … in the Karabiner settings you can change what is treated as a built-in keyboard.

Apparently connected mice were set to be treated as a built-in keyboard, so that's why all the mice were disabled when I turned on the Magic Keyboard.

This is now solved! Thanks for your input. It was all pretty confusing.
