Hello, I am finally in a position to upgrade to a new M4 iPad Pro. I am going to get the 11” model, but I am stuck between choosing a cellular 256GB model or a 512GB WiFi model.

My current iPad is 128GB and I can easily fill it up with games and apps, plus I’m starting to teach myself to draw and animate using the apps on it.
I fancy a cellular model, however I won’t use it much outside the house, and as the new iPads are eSIM only, I can’t find any decent value eSIM data only offers? On my iPhone I have a main normal SIM card, and then a second standard eSIM package which is a low cost pay monthly one, can I use that with an iPad or do you have to use a data only eSIM?

With the 512GB model, how much faster is the storage on it over the standard 256GB model? I searched and couldn’t find any comparisons between the two.

I agree with TechRunner.. For mostly around the house, you've got your home WiFi. If you don't go out much with the iPad, then the WiFi only should be OK.

But note that unlike the WiFi models, the cellular capable iPads also have full GPS capability. If you ever plan to use the iPad for navigation or anything to do with speed or location, you might want the cellular model. I have a RAM mount for my 13 inch M4 Pro and sometimes use it like a giant Garmin or Magellan GPS unit. So nice to navigate using the big screen.

If you have zero use for the cellular, I’d get the WiFi. With my occasional away from home use case I have never regretted just using my phone on the go or the hotspot feature.

I forgot about the GPS, I am alright not to have it though as I only use my phone for SatNav really, any future car I’ll get I’ll get Car Play in it.

I’ve decided on the 512GB model, I think k the cellular is a nice to have but in reality I’ll probably hardly use it, plus here in the UK their aren’t really any low cost monthly rolling data only contracts. Where I live I’d need one on EE’s network but no one does it really.

Cellular was good before CarPlay.
Just ordered 13” 512gb with MK. Have 200gb plus of photos/vids.
Had the 11” M4 with cellular didn’t use it.

I got my 512GB iPad Pep M4 11” in silver delivered yesterday. Very nice and the screen is amazing! Loaded lots of games onto it lol. And then ordered over £500 worth of accessories..

I am thinking though once the iPad Mini gets an OLED screen I may grab one as a second device. Or maybe Apple will have a foldable iPhone out then too?

Ok,so I got the Magic Keyboard, I thought using it at first was a bit stupid, but I have to say I am beginning to get it, typing on it is much easier. And I am just taking the iPad off to play my games. Shame it weighs so much combined but it is rather luxurious I have to say. I did get a Smart Portfolio case too.

The iPads screen is just yyyuuuummmmyyyyy gorgeous stunning beautiful colourful sharp 👌😍😍💯💯💯

Just wanted to give an update. Having now used my lovely new iPad and Magic Keyboard for a week or so now, I’ve concluded the Magic Keyboard has resolved one of my biggest issues I had with the iPad, and that was typing using the on screen keyboard, not sure if my hands are getting old but I make so many mistakes using the on screen keyboard. The Magic Keyboard being physical has resolved this.
Naturally if Apple actually made auto correct work properly it would be better but.. anyway I’ve been using the iPad as a mini laptop, and taking it off to use it on it’s own and greatly enjoying it. So despite the ASTRONOMICAL cost of the Magic Keyboard, it is proven to be worth its purchase to me. I even use the trackpad all the time lol.
