I need help deciding which macbook or pro to get i have around 10k+ songs and am a music freak i need to do everything a freshman in college needs to get please help

A little more information would be helpful. From the sounds of the little information given a MacBook would suit you just fine as long as you don't game or need to do any Graphic Design work or use 3D apps.

It all comes down to three questions:

How much money are you willing to spend?
Would you be happier with the better portability of the macbook?
Are the extra features of the Pro important to you (Aluminium case, larger screen, dedicated graphics card, backlit keyboard)?

If you like to game a lot, the macbooks rubbish graphics card will make the experience much worse than on the MBP.

i think im going to go with the MBP 15 or 17 so maybe i can keep it through college i just dont know which one ill choose at the store

You'll prolly choose the 15.4" model since it'll most likely get LED displays at WWDC hopefully. i was planning on buying the 17" inch model for the bigger screen but if it doesn't get LED, i'll get the 15.4" model ...InshaAllah:)

First off, do you have a particular budget. Second off, do you know about the Educational discount. Thirdly, what course will you be doing?

Definitely wait until June 11th for WWDC (its a conference where Apple usually releases products), because the Macbook Pros are quite likely to be updated :)

You said you were considering the 17" MBP. That makes my hypothesise that your maximum budget is $2799.

For that amount you could get a 20" iMac ($1499), a base model MacBook ($1099) and 2GB RAM for each aftermarket (2x$85). Two machines for the price of one, one portable for taking around Campus and taking notes if you do an arts course and one with a nice big screen back in your room.

Of course, whatever you do, wait until after WWDC to see what updates come.

Thats a very good advice as well.:)

I love my Macbook/iBook and iMac set up. Use your iMac as your music base and your Macbook as your work/school computer.
