I am looking to invest in an iMac quite soon, but before I get this huge thing I'm going to need a desk for it to sit on (I currently have no desk, just a laptop that I am using on my bed side table)

So far I have come across the Jonas Desk from Ikea.. I don't know whether it will suit my room though

The desk I really really really want is the OneLessDesk, it will be perfect in every way. Though pricey at around $750.. I was considering it and requested a quote on shipping which I received and can't afford! It's an extra $400 for shipping that thing (I'm in the UK)

I like the Jonas desk as it's simple and looks thick and sturdy and has the extra option of a pull out. I like the OneLessDesk because it's simply amazing and will look great in my room, but I mostly like it because i know I can pull out that bottom desk and sit as far away from the 27" iMac monitor with my keyboard and mouse.. So I am ideally looking for an affordable desk which I suppose is going to have to be a cheap wooden one.. but it must have an option of a pull out for my keyboard, but preferable not a small one.

I would like to find a table like the Jonas Desk with an extra/smaller desk to pull out from underneath like the design of the OneLessDesk. I have been browsing the internet for hours and not found anything. Maybe someone here has a desk set up or knows of a desk that's perfect for me!?

Thanks!! ♥♥

I just bought the Jonas from IKEA last week. I was a little hesitant, but it is a very nice desk- especially for the price!

It was pretty quick to put together (although, I've put together a lot of this type of furniture before). Plenty of desk space for your standard iMac setup and still room for some speakers and a printer or second display.

I do wish the bottom cabinet has a roll-out drawer, though.

I might have to end up going for the Jonas. What set up do you have? iMac? Size? Are you too close to the screen and does it hurt your eyes?

Also what colour did you choose? Oak or Birch? The photos on the site don't seem to be true to their colour.. so unprofessional

Wall mounted side

Since I always sympathize with the Quest for Optimal Furniture on a Tight Budget (TM), I offer this tip (also incidentally from IKEA) for $100:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S89831551 Admittedly it lacks your keyboard pull-out-thingie, but I failed to grasp the concept of that Jonas thing (where do you put your legs when drawing out?). That Vika Byske depends on a wall-mount of one end, which may or may not be helpful at all.

Good luck :)

I find it impossible to find an appropriately sized desk :(. I'm a computer games developer and have a 27" iMac on my desk along with a 22" Samsung monitor AND Z-5500 speakers on the desk. I need a massively wide desk with a decent depth so that I have space to do paperwork and maths calculations. I'm in the UK and open to any suggestions...

Interesting choice

Are you suggesting that I choose this as my desk or that I add this onto the Jonas desk for me to rest on with my keyboard and mouse?

Furniture Row

Furniture Row has some great desks...very high quality. I have the madagascar writing desk and it is HUGE. I can put a 27" imac and second display, speakers, and printer on my desk and still have tons of room for my keyboard and other stuff.

I bought 2 for my office and love them. plus they have TONS of other pieces to match all the way froma chair to a tv stand to sofa table to coffee table, end table, file cabinet, hutches and much more.

Will check them out, thanks

Haha, that looks nice actually. Might be a little too big in width for my bedroom though

I have the Oak color. 27" iMac. With the iMac near the back of the desk, I have enough room that it doesn't feel to close.

Oh really? Would you be so kind to let me see?:):)

Check out anthro.com

I have a desk made by a company based out of the Northwest US (Oregon, I believe). I've had it for about 7 years now and absolutely love it. Their website is anthro.com. They are a little pricy, but their products are well built, sturdy, and fully customizable. To be more specific, I have the 48" fitsystem with 2 additional shelves, and a cpu side unit for a PC tower I built. The 48" desk is the perfect size for my 27" iMac.

I don't have a separate monitor for the PC because I am using the target display mode in the iMac for a monitor when I have to use it. If you need a second monitor I would go with a desk at least 60" wide.

The company also has frequent sales (I just referred a friend to them about a month ago when they were having a huge 45% off sale).
