Hi everyone, happy new year. I’ve been learning to edit photos in Lightroom and would like some help with editing one or two photos of mine with a style the bellow two Instgramers are using. I have VSCO film packs but unsure what would be a close look which I could tweek. Just for the record I am not trying to copy the look and start a like for like copy. I am simply trying to understand how this look is achieved as I have failed on many attempts.

The photos these two Instagramers take very contrasty and dark, slight vignetting, perhaps the photos are under exposed to begin with? I am not sure. The blacks seem to be dropped too, with grain added.

Thanks in advance.

These are quite different. The first one has blacks dropped a bit as you say, probably via in-camera setting, and that's about it. The second one has shadows and contrast both increased.

Thanks, I'm going to give it a try, would be cool if there was a preset available that did the same that could be tweaked.

I wonder if they're simply using Instagram filters? Another approach is to take a look at something like Nik or MacPhun and look at their settings once you find a similar look.
