Help me!!! ("physical memory dump" with Boot Camp)

Alright everyone. I have a problem with my boot camp...unlike the others I have read here.

Every time I install Windows on my Mac, it works fine for about an hour...then I get an error saying something like "physical memory dump". Whenever I restart Windows, it boots up just fine..then as soon as I begin to install more files or get online...my harddrive starts making "clicking" sounds and Windows freezes.

This is not a one time event. I seriously (no exaggerations) have had this happen about 7 or 8 times now and I am getting sick of it. I have installed a copy of XP about 5 times and Vista 2 or 3 times. As you all know...installing your files takes time and when you do it as much as I have, the process gets old...especially when you feel it will fail again. Regardless of the OS I have the same problem.

Any ideas??? HELP!!!

If your machine is making clicking noises after heavy drive use, I'd backup the important files quick.

Clicking noises from the HD when it gets warm/used quite a bit, and the OS freezing is usually a sign of impending HD death.

Of course this is windows so it might not be the drive.

Yes. A black MacBook.

This seems to be a common problem among macbooks!

if you boot up to OS X, then goto the system profiler (Apple menu > About this mac > More Info... )then click Serial-ATA to find the brand of drive it is. Im willing to bet that it is a seagate hard drive.

The problem is that the head on the drive is breaking off and hitting the platter, this causes irreversible damage to the drive.
Try to backup whatever you can, because your drive WILL fail soon.

Contact Apple Care, and they can probably fix you up with a new drive!

Doesn't have to be a Seagate, the click of death (or beep of death) seems to happen to HDs quite a bit these days.

True, even if it isnt a seagate, you still have drive problems, and it WILL fail soon, so get everything off of it that you can!

Although, the likelihood of it being a seagate drive is pretty big.

Thanks for your help. Is this a fairly common problem? I also have continuous problems with my keys breaking off!!!Apple has always been awesome with helping me fix broken equipment, but it's an hour drive to the nearest Mac store...and I can't wait 2 weeks for the mail.

Wow man, you are scaring me...
I have nearly the exact same drive in my MacBook (the last letter in the serial number is off though, probably denoting the capacity of the drive).
I know the SeaGate drives in the MacBooks have been failing recently, however I haven't heard anything about other drives. But I really don't follow things like that too closely.

As for the keys problem, mine haven't caused any trouble for me at all.

But you may want to call Apple Support, sometimes they will give you free priority overnight shipping, normally by FedEx (assuming you are in the US)
however IDK how the fedex shipping schedule works this close to the holidays!
