So we're on a family plan (4 of us, makes it like 1/2 as much as if we were individual). We're currently with Sprint HOPEFULLY switching to AT&T within the next couple of days.

My mom currently has a Galaxy S3 and said she's going to get an S4 but isn't 100% sure because of the larger size. I want to do the switch and everything as quick as possible so I don't want to spend hours messing with phones.

Before this she had a Galaxy S and has loved both of them. Since I'm not that familiar with Android phones I thought I'd ask for others that would be comparable but with a smaller screen.

I would like her to have a powerful one though that'll run the latest Android version. My dad bought a cheap one a few years ago and it would have to reset after he closed every app because there wasn't enough memory.

Oh, and iOS is out of the question. She played with an iPhone about 3 years ago and loved it, then for some reason decided to stick with Android. Oh well.

The S4 is the same overall size as the s3, only the screen is larger.

If she wants something smaller, you could go for the S4 mini, though its hardware is not as powerful as the regular s4.

Wow. According to the phonescoop.com the S4 is thinner and less wider than the S3. Height is exactly the same. And it has an IR port. Thought that went away with the Trēo 750.

She should be just fine with the S4.

The IR blaster is one of the most awesome features of the S4. I control both my TV and my DVR with the phone. My phone has now replaced two remotes.

It does have it's uses, like if the remote isn't nearby or you just want to mess with someone watching TV...

Yes I'm very childish:D

I guess that works. On the Trēo it was just powerful enough to send your contact card to another Trēo right in front of it. You had to get a $100 device to control TVs. I can see where that can come in handy. This is the first time I've heard of that feature though. Everyone always talks about how you can go through photos by swiping.
