Help me Please - Macbook Pro sleep questions

Hey Guys, I have two questions.

1. When my Macbook Pro is Sleeping, my External HDD (USB3) randomly spins up and then sleeps several times over several hours. Can I stop this?
2. I have an external screen & Apple Mouse and want to sleep when I shut the lid, how do I do this?

Thanks for your help guys, i'm really at a loss of how to fix this.

This is normal and your isp is the cause. To stop this open system prefs click on energy saver and uncheck "wake for network access"
