Ok,
Frustrated by Mail's inability to allow you to create your own mailboxes within the inbox (unless they are a different account) I attempted to beat the problem.
So, I created a new account with the same email prefs as my existing account. The idea was that this new account would act like the folder I filter particular emails into. But instead of sitting on its own down the bottom of the folder list, it would be a part of the inbox and thus its new mail would show up in the dock icon.
Seemingly simple, I thought.
What happened was that all the email from my original email account associated itself with the new account, so when I deleted the new account in frustration, it took all my email with it.
Now I can't find it. Undo doesn't work. Is it gone forever? Or is it recoverable?
I would appreciate someone's advice on this. And message to Apple: please can we have folder in the inbox in the next release (like, say, Entourage).
Thanks
