My uncle gave me this iPhone 3G because he got the latest one. I absolutely have no experience with any Apple product, my previous mobile phone was an old, cheap Nokia phone. I'm not the guy who buys high-end phones, I'm already satisfied with cheap, working phone but this iPhone was free, so of course I accepted it.

It's an iPhone 3G with 4.2.1/06.15.00 update and it was previously 4.1. When my uncle gave me this phone, the wi-fi wasn't working, it doesn't detect any wi-fi within the area, so I thought updating it to higher version will fix its problems but I just made a huge mess.

Here's the story:

When I tried to update it on iTunes, I always get an error and I was stuck on a recovery loop. So I saw a solution on YouTube, and restored this iPhone using redsnow and a custom 4.2.1 firmware that I got from Piratebay. But I just made a huge mess, I can't activate the iPhone because I don't have an AT&T sim card, and I live in Philippines and we only have Globe, Smart, Sun carrier here. How can I activate this iPhone? So sad I can't use it now :(

I saw a solution where I can unlock it using this whitedoor thingy. They said I need to downgrade this iPhone and install whitedoor, but when I try to restore it using lower version, I always get an error (1611) before it finish and it left my iPhone much more useless (blank black screen). I followed the instruction using redsnow (I checked Install Cydia, and downgrade option) but I always get the 1611 error when I try to restore it using lower version.

Please help me.

Put it in DFU mode (Google for what this is and how to do it)
Plug it into iTunes and hit restore.
It will be restored to 4.2.1

But, f the Wifi doesn't work, it hay be a hardware failure and software cannot fix that.
