Hi,

My kids used to use two of these, but they have been on the shelf for three or more years. The original docks broke, which prompted the kids to stop using them. I have a usb to audio adapter, and plugged them in to my 2013 MBA, but nothing seems to happen. Any ideas?

The USB to audio adapter won't work. The USB to audio cable has only three sections whole the data transfer cable had 4 parts. You can however by a third party iPod shuffle cable on eBay or deal extreme for a few dollars

To add an additional 30% to my trade-in at GameStop today I was required to purchase a used item.
I did so in the form of an iPod Shuffle, second generation. It was $12.

Unfortunately, the iPod Shuffle 2nd gen has a soldered heaphone/usb jack. I repair electronics for a living but I can't seem to find the part for this one. I'm going to have to say that the only way to repair is to buy another that you can pull the part off of but the soldering is kind of a pain on these small devices. It can be done, but it won't be easy.
