I'm running my PC, my games console and now my Macbook through one VGA KVM switchbox. But when I switch the box to another source, say from my Mac to my PC, my Mac goes to sleep, making it really hard to quick-change between them. I've tried disabling the sleep function, even using programs like InsomniaX, but that too let my Mac sleep. Even worse with InsomniaX, when I woke it with an external keyboard, I got a blue monitor screen and my Mac's screen was ON even though it was shut! Obviously could be harmful...
So I don't think the solution lies anywhere in stopping the Mac from 'sleeping', but more in controlling the way it outputs video to external displays and then what that allows the system to do, be it sleep or not.
Anyone have any input?
In a slightly related topic, my Mac to monitor display is showing strange 'shadows' echoing away to the right of all the onscreen lines...any ideas on that either?! It's not the switchbox, as it's only present on the Mac output, so I'd guess it was the VGA cable, the Apple 'Mini-DVI to VGA' adaptor, or something else internally... Anyone else had that problem?
