I am trying to understand how the video playback on the iPhone syncs with iTunes. I have several unwatched TV shows on my iPhone. After I watch one on the iPhone (I let it get all the way through the credits just in case it makes a difference), it asks me if I want to delete the episode to save space. I am not sure what to do...

So I have two questions:
1) If I delete the episode, will it remove it from iTunes when it syncs?
2) Is this how you get iTunes to mark the show as watched? If I do not delete the episode from the iPhone, after a sync the episode still has the blue dot next to it, and neither iTunes nor the iPhone show the episode as having been watched.

Does anyone else have any thoughts? Does it sync the playcount with iTunes? FWIW, these are TV shows I have encoded myself from a DVD using Handbrake, and the tags in iTunes are set as a TV Show, and to Remember Playback Position. I have not tried any other video yet.

1) Deleting the show on the iPhone will not delete it in iTunes.

2) I don't know the answer to this one. I watched a Law & Order episode (previously unwatched) and then I was asked if I wanted to delete it. I've tried both ways but it doesn't seem to mark the episode as watched. Perhaps I've done something incorrectly so I will be watching this thread as well.

So does anyone know if the "playcount" and "last date played" for music gets updated in iTunes when you sync the iPhone?
