help!? (message about startup disk)

I need to know what (the system seftware on the startup disk only functions on the original media not if copied to ather drive) means
Please help me i can no longer start my mac up

Which OS are you using? Typically that message only appears if you drag an OS 9 System Folder from a CD to a hard drive. Have you done anything like that?

i dont know this is kinda a family computer and 4 other people use it so it may have been done, I am just so lost

I am using os 9 the computer model# is a1005 and it was made in 2002
