Hi,

I'm in the midst of an upgrade project to my Mac 5,1. I installed a MacVideoCards flashed RX580 and it seems to perform well under High Sierra. I also installed a new SSD on a Accelsior card to improve throughput. I used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone High Sierra onto the new SSD, then upgraded the new SSD to Mojave. Under Mohave, I get weird outline and highlight artifacts on my monitor, a 30" Cinema display. Here's a photo:

you can see the weird cyan highlights in the upper right of the screen, and there are often weird outlines that occur around objects on the display. By contrast, booting into High Sierra, there are no such artifacts:

I'm at a loss as to what might be causing the issue.

The boot ROM was upgraded to version 144.0.0.0.0.0

Any advice is most appreciated.

Mike

The first step to debug is with a clean install, Mojave AMD video drivers are known to be very picky with some kexts and sometimes don't show image at all, perhaps you have something analogous of the AirDisplay kext problem.

Another thing, some people had something similar in the past, search for RX 560 pink screen, and seems that some DP cables and DVI-Dual Link adapters can cause this after Mojave upgrade, maybe you should try another active DP-to-Dual Link DVI cable since the graphic drivers are heavily modified from High Sierra and initialise the GPU differently.

I recommend a FULL 6.05gb Mojave 10.14.6 CLEAN install and before installing and 3rd. party apps .. check if the artifacts are still there.

( Off topic as my RX 580 is not flashed )
I use an un-flashed MSI Armor RX 580 8gb. and did the full clean install - no problems - then installed 3rd. party apps - then CCC cloned the installation to a Samsung 970 EVO NVMe blade.

Everything is running absolutely perfectly.

I erased the new SSD and formatted for APFS. I then installed a completely clean install of Mojave to that drive and booted. Still the same issues with the monitor artifacts.
