Help moving an iTunes Library to new Mac

I'm having some real difficulty moving my iTunes collection to my new iMac.

(This is, by my count, the fourth time I've moved this particularly library - and the ONLY time I've had a problem...grrrrr)

I followed the Migration Assistant to move my data, the songs and albums showed up on the new Mac's iTunes library. But none of the play count or ratings followed suit. More worrying, when I attempt to sync my iPod Touch and iPad to the new Mac it keeps giving me scary warnings about erasing the whole thing.

I've searched, for a week now, for an Apple Support document that might shed some light on this - to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I still have all the data, and I haven't "lost" anything yet, but I'd like to get everything moved properly so I can finally get rid of the old PC.

Update: I finally figured out what I needed to do.

The appropriate Support Document is Here.

Follow the directions for Copying Using an External Drive, noting especially that you need to find, copy, and paste the (old) folder named "iTunes" and NOT simply "iTunes Music."

I actually copied the files over a network rather than using a hard drive. I also recommend that - if possible - use a CAT5 ethernet cable rather than relying on WiFi if you go this route. Much, much, much faster than even the speediest wireless N setup.

I'd also recommend that anyone attempting to do this (fairly common?) task NOT rely on the Migration Assistant, which seemed only to complicate things.

I know you say you figured this out, and i also agree doing this via a cable is always better than Wi-Fi, but you could also perform this task using Home Sharing. It's a drag and drop process for all content contained in iTunes.
