My friend moved my desk with my new 27" iMac on it. She did not take the iMac off of the desk, just slid it across the room with it on top of the desk. Thankfully it didn't fall and we have hardwood so it shouldn't have been a bumpy ride. Would this cause any issues? I would imagine you should take it off the desk first, as the biggest issue is it falling and cracking the screen. Am I correct? Anything else I should be concerned about? It seems to be ok so far...

Yea, shipment causes more bounces than dragging a desk across a smooth floor would cause by far. You have to think that the components are screwed, glued and put together really tightly. I'm imagining that a fall off the desk might harm the screen/chassis over the internals. But I still would expect that it would be functional. Knowing humans, we've probably done some drop test on the iMac on youtube or blended it or something terrible. haha.
