Like usual, I turned off my 2012 mac pro before go to bed every night. Today, when I turned it on. It went through the booting process, stopped at the username/password. I entered the username/password. It then stuck with the beach ball for about 45 seconds before proceed loading everything. Normally, after the username/password, it loaded into the desktop very quickly. The strange part is that it doesn't stuck there. It just hangs there for about 45-60 seconds before continuing loading the desktop. Once it's up, everything seems to be working normally.

It behaves the same way in safe mode. I've restored back to a previous time using TimeMachine backup. I'm in the process of restore my backup that I have to another hard drive and boot from that one to see if it's going to behave the same way.

My mac pro information:
  • Mid 2012
  • 2 x 3.46 Ghz
  • 64GB RAM
  • 2 x 5770
  • 10.13.6
  • MP51.0089.B00
  • Boot Drive: SSD 860EVO 500GB on a Apricorn Velocity Duo with another Samsung EVO SSD [not in raid configuration]
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Long shot question: did your Mac Pro ever got updated to the MP51.0087.B00 BootROM?

Yes, sir. It was on MP51.0087.B00. Then it was updated to the current bootrom. However, everything was ok until today.

I don't know if you are following the problems that people had with MP51.0087.B00, but for some the BootROM became corrupt.

Do the usual troubleshooting, if nothing works and the mystery continues, make a ROM dump and PM me.

No, I'm not familiar with the problems with MP51.0087.B00. I'm new to the forum. Please advise on how to do a ROM dump.

Thanks.

1) Download dosdude1 ROMDump from http://dosdude1.com/apps/

2) Disable SIP (boot from Recovery, open Terminal then type "csrutil disable"), ROMDump needs SIP disabled

3) Open ROMDump, do the DUMP, save the file, compress it and send me by PM.
