HELP!!! My MB is unusable.

Last year my grandma bought her first computer. My aunt recommended her to get a macbook. She got it and didnt really know how to use it and she didnt end up liking computers. She gave it to me now as a middle school graduation present. This is my first mac and i am very happy with it. The problem is that my grandma only speaks spanish so the default system language was in spanish and also there was a lot of things downloaded on to it. So i decided that i wanted a clean install of OS X. When i tried to install it said that it couldnt be installed on this system and that it didnt meet requirements. This makes no sense since the computer was running OS X 10.4.9 which is the newest one. Someone told me to erase the partition because maybe the HD was the problem. I ended up goin to didk utility and erasing it and i still have the problem. Now my computer doesnt work!!! What should I do?

BTW my warranty expired and i called but they said they wont give me any support.

Yes i did. Its the macbook 10.4.6 install cd's.

The Macbook would have come with DVDs, not CDs, I think. Are you sure it's the right disc? An install disc from another system might not work.

Was there some special different version that ships with Spanish, and will only install a Spanish OS X on it or something?

What type of install are you doing? Typically, it won't let you install an older version (10.4.6) over a newer (10.4.9). Unless you do an erase and install.

I did erase! But it wont let me install. Its an English version cause it was bought in the U.S. I dont understand whats wrong. The disk says macbook so it is the macbook install disk. It wont even let me choose the install. It just boots from the disk and then says immediately ALERT cannot install OS X on this system.

The only thing I can think is that you're using a Macbook system restore disk that didn't come with that particular Macbook. Are you 100% sure it's the same disk that came shipped with that computer? If it's not, it's not going to work.

The language of the installer discs is irrelevant. It's the same Apple hardware worldwide. You just need to make sure that they are the discs that did come with that laptop. You might be able to call up Apple and at least buy some discs off of them even if you are out of warranty. Worst case is you'll have to find an AASP that can order them. You could wait until Leopard too...

Additionally the discs might just be bad themselves.
