Help my wife buy my bday present

My wife is looking for a gift for me for my birthday and asked me if I wanted any games. I play WoW, so if I'm somewhere with a decent internet connection, that is what I'll play, but I travel a fair bit in my job so I have downtime on planes and in airports where WoW isn't an option. I'm looking for a game that:

1. Is OSX native
2. can be played in quasi public places (so no GTA)
3. Doesn't require net connection for fun gameplay
4. Isn't an RTS (I find those devolve into twitch fests best left for the 19 year old masters of the art) unless it's okay with >30 y.o. reflexes (is there a Rise of nations mac port?).
5. any genre, otherwise. I like turn based strat games but have CivIV (maybe one of the expansions?)

Anyway - hope you can help. The review sites tend to skew toward games I can play on my 360, and I'm really looking for something that is happier on a laptop (so Bioshock - though a great game, is not what I'm looking for).
 
I take then you don;t have boot camp, have you considered boot camp, it would make your gaming life a lot easier. Maybe the Sims 2, i'msure you MBP could handle it, thought the Mac ports can be quite messy. Spore? It can be fun for a while. Or Need for speed? those are a few i can think of off the top of my head.

Maybe I will try windows, though I would prefer to play in OSX. I've never used Crossover, but I've heard some games play alright under it. Maybe I'll look there.

Mysterycasefiles looks interesting - but it says it is Windows only.
 
Oh - sorry, yes RTS = Real time strategy. I liked Starcraft, Warcraft etc to a point but eventually I find that the dashing back and forth across the map, keeping your military going while making sure the workers back at home aren't sitting on their hands oppressive.

Turn based strategy, where you have the luxury of thinking about what you're going to do next, is much more my cuppa tea.

Fable sounds interesting - I never did try it when it first came out. But I see Fable 2 is out for Xbox. Should I just go for the newer Xbox version?
