Hi, I have a problem.

Im going to jailbreak my iPhone 5 with iOS 6 when it releases today. But, I have a problem with my power button. It only works sometimes. Therefore, I need to send it to Apple. Does it affect my warranty if it is jailbroken? Can I restore to 6.1, incase apple releases another firmware with SHSH blobs?

Please help!

Apple will not fix it if it's JB. Restore as new before bringing in.

iPhone 5 CANNOT be downgrade even with blobs.

For the moment at least...

You can use an sbsettings toggle aa substitute for the power burton.

Thanks, but the sad part. Not sure if I can enter DFU to jailbreak... Are you sure it is not possible to downgrade? TinyUmbrella support 6.1 now?

Of cause I'm talking about for the moment because no one will know what's happening in the future.

I've stated that it's not possible. If you don't believe me then you should do some searching.

What? Apple can see if the Device has been jailbroken but the time and effort is in 99% of the cases never happening.

Thats what I've been told.

IMO go to your closet store and get the phone replace ASAP! They won't fix your power button, they will replace your phone. Good luck!

I guess it's up to you. Apple can deny to replace/fix if it's JB. Setting up as new takes less than 5 minutes. I wouldn't risk it.

I've been told that Apple's Genius can put your iDevices into blacklist if it's JB too. Why don't you try it?

Oh, no - ofc I mean you're gonna reset it before handing it in I'm just saying theres a trace of that the device has been jailbroken even if you restore as new. But it's hard for Apple to find it.

You can use redsn0w to prepare a DFU IPSW
So yes you can get into DFU without the power button.

Restore as new, and they do not blacklist your device.

No trace if a DFU firmware is performed.

Btw you cannot setup a JB phone as new without a DFU restore.

Try to be accurate...

Get the phone replaced then JB the new phone.

This. I can't imagine even thinking about doing something else at this point. Do it sooner rather than later, just in case Apple releases 6.1.1 quickly and you then might be stuck without a JB for a while.

Thanks! Have given it to Apple. Said maximum 2 weeks before I get it back. Dont think another firmware will release before that!
