Help, need to test my mac's gaming capabilities

I had been given a mac this year as a present, and it is a very good one, but i have yet to find a free game that's frame rate will drop below 40, everything works absolutely fine, so are there any free games out there that can help me find my mac's limits?

Well, I would suggest Call of Duty 2; CoD4 is too demanding for that system, really, plus there's no free demo. There used to be an Nvidia issue with CoD2, but I think it's been fixed. Get the demo here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/games/demos_updates/callofduty2.html
I'm running CoD2 at max settings, 4x AA, la de dah, 1920x1200, etc. on my HD 4850 iMac with Snow Leopard at a steady 63 FPS, which is about half of what a PC could do, but still very respectable. :apple:
 
I ran COD4 on my old Macbook with the built-in Intel graphics card lol. You can definitely run it with those specs.

Actually he isn't joking but he is not completely wrong either. You can play the game with that imac but realize the 9400m is an INTEGRATED graphics card and is not really the best for gaming.

So yes, you can play the game in low to lower mid settings at a smooth frame rate. But if you tried to max it out the game will be slooooow.

Some people are graphics fiends and need everything to run full setting. If you are fine with those settings, then go for it.
 
I play CoD 4 with my completely stock MacBook Aluminium on High settings and native resolution. Runs pretty smooth. I turned down the AA because that's what kills FPS.
 
Yes lol, I apologize for my confusing post. A friend of mine runs CoD4 on that same system natively, and he gets around 30 FPS at low settings and full resolution. I don't consider anything under 60 FPS playable, but that's just because I compete. I run CoD4 at 125 FPS and love it, but I actually can notice a difference in fire rate, polling, etc. at anything slower than that. I WAS going to suggest CoD4, but you wouldn't be able to test your system with it per say, because anything over lowest setting would be really choppy. Besides, there's no free demo.
