I'm running a 2009 Mac Pro tricked to thinking its a 5,1 with two Apple Cinema Display screens and just upgraded to High Sierra from El Capitan. I'm underwhelmed so far and may just go back to El Capitan.

Besides running a little warmer than before, I'm noticing artifacts on the boot up screen. I have a Mac Radeon 7950. Sometimes upon shutdown I see some artifacts on the black screen, sort of like blinking stars in the bottom left corner.

I did the typical SMC reset and P/V Ram reset. Can someone please advise on the artifact issue? Thanks no much!

Shutdown artifacts are totally normal for all flashed HD 78xx/79xx/280x. Use the search and you will find a lot of posts, with pictures/videos, about it.

This happens with all flashed AMD GCN1.0 GPUs, since Sierra at least.
