Hi guys, Firstly I am new to MAC, only one week old heh.

I am trying to change the icon to a program.

I have read up on it and from what I can tell I open the ICNS file and copy, then goto the program then ctrl and click >> Get info and then paste. This actually works but also copies a nice black background with it thus maknig the pretty new icon no longer pretty and transparent.

I have no idea what I can do and have tried various things.

Thanks in advance

just find the icon that you want... click apple-I to [get info] on the icon... select the icon picture in the [get info] window... click apple-C to copy it...

find the program/folder/drive etc... that you want to change the icon on... click apple-I to [get info] on the program... select the icon in the [get info] window... click apple-V to paste it...

viola...

Ill bear that in mind reality ;)

I have tried to do this, but the icon I am trying to use doesnt actually have the icon as its icon, does that make sense?

The icon its using is the preview icon, I then open it up and the icon appears.

How do I get around this? :(

That’s a conundrum... search me... anyone???

yeah i said conundrum...

ok the icon file is .icns yeah? looking at the icns icon on my desktop it shows the icon of the program used to open it just like any other file would. The program used to open it is the previewer and thus its the previewer icon that gets shown. It is not until I double click the file that it opens up in previewer to show the icon itself which is a glass apple for my Poisoned program.

This is the same with any icon I download.

Search on Google for Iconographer for Mac OS X. Then open the .icns in Iconographer, choose Edit > Copy > Icon Family. Go to the Application's get info window and paste it.

Iconographer is brilliant software!
