Now this fine Dome base unit iMac is running OS X 10.4.11

It only has USB 1 ?

we live in the UK

Now we want to use a webcam and Skype (or anything) to talk to and see distant relatives.

But a PC Webcam does not work, not even a flicker !

So what model do we need and where do we get it from ?

Is it possible ?

Any responses greatly appreciated !

A puzzled,

Tim

tim-I have an early 09 mac mini and after some research I purchased a Logitech WebCam Pro 9000. According to my searching of mini sites this is identical to the mac only Logitech web cam except for some features that I decided I didn't need and it costs some $15-30 less than the identified mac one. I got mine at BestBuy and it works just as I had read. I had to set the sound for "unidentified usb device" and it was plug and play otherwise, no software needed. that's my experience, a less exensive logitech didn't work.

If you already have a webcam to try, it might be worth giving maccam a go.

It may help! :)
