Help Needed! Light Spill?

Hey guys.

I bought a used iMac about a month ago. It's the 2008, 2.8Ghz model.

I hadn't used it too heavily until about the last week or so, but am now noticing when there is a dark image on the screen, which appears to be some sort of yellowish tinge, or light leak in the bottom corners, and maybe slightly at the top.

Just wondering if this is normal, though I don't see how it would be. and if anyone else has had this problem, and what they have done about it.

did your last computer use a CRT monitor? LCD's have something called bleading ( which looks like light leaks at the corners of the display ) it happens even in the best of lcd's though some more then others its natural to see them on black or dark screens.

My last computer was actually a Macbook Pro, and I never noticed anything like this on it. Are laptop screens a different type of LCD or something that doesn't give this effect?

laptops are effected by it too, though it may have been less effected or maybe you never noticed it? also some computer screens turn off the backlighting when it detects the screen is black so that you don't see bleeding of the screen. its nothing to worry about you notice it much less with the new LED backlight screens found in the new 24 inch cinema display as well all there new laptops. It's like having a stuck pixel you can have a stuck pixel for 2 years or longer on your screen and never notice it but once you notice it you start noticing it every single time you use that computer screen.
