Help needed. "no bootable device...."

Hello everyone,
I have a problem that I really need help with.

I have run boot camp assistant.
When I pop in the windows disc the mac restarts.
After a little wait I get the message:

"no bootable device. please load a boot disc and press any key to continue."

I have no idea what to do here so am really in need of your hlp!

Thanks for that. And for the welcome.

Ok, so that helped a bit.

I can now get, holding option, to the grey boot selection screen.
I can put in my windows disc which appears on the boot screen.

If I choose it I get a black screen with something like this:

"1.
2.
please choose boot type_"

Any ideas?

This is driving me crazy!

I should add that the keyboard is completely unresponsive.
