Hi everyone,

I have had a MAJOR stressful evening with my new MBA

I have got some arctic 5 thermal paste. I removed the back case and while I was unscrewing the cover for the heatsink I stripped the screw head. You can just about see the head in it and I have a technician screw driver but I cannot get any purchase on the screw.

What is the best way to proceed. I have reattached everything else and the laptop is okay but ideally I woul still like to redo the thermal paste.

Would a laptop repair shop be able to remove this screw and if so would this be expensive

the second point is on the screw itself. Is the screw replaceable and would I also be to order it on-line?

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with this problem in their laptop

Lastly, can anyone recommend somewhere in London I could go and let them have a look at it???

On a honest note I was so gutted when it happened I thought I was going to cry! :(:(:(:(

Thanks for anyone who can help with this

D:apple:

NewEgg might have some of those screws, but I think your best bet is to take one of the existing screws you did get out, and take it to a hardware store to have the threads measured so you know what you have.

Why replace the thermal paste on a new machine anyway?
