Hi guys,

So apparently someone (my money's on my wife) conspired to get liquid in my superdrive on my Macbook Pro. At least that explains why its stopped working properly (hubris to think it could be device failure but there you go).

Now, I'm loathe to fork out 240 pounds to replace it in the Apple store. I could go down the external route which is fine but I have a question...

I have an old Titanium powerbook (broken screen had to be replaced with a new machine) that has a functioning combo drive. Will I be able to put that into my Macbook Pro ... has Apple kept the same bay specifications, connectors etc. across the laptop line?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

U.K.
i thought macbooks used an even more compact drive than before, but you might be able to ebay for spare part drives.

not 100%, but i think the MBP superdrive is a few millimetres thinner than previous drives.

That's a shame - I guess not every mental lightbulb pays off. I guess I'll just have to trawl eBay for a combo drive that will fit (not fussed about superdrive as I don't burn much in the way of DVDs).
