Hi guys. My macbook's fan is dying and while the new one doesn't arrive I decided to try to install fan control and spin my current fan to max speed to see if it would spin it back into place avoiding that dreadful noise they can produce.
It didn't work and now I can't remove freaking Fan Control 1.2.

I can delete the preference pane alright, but I can't find the FanControlDaemon because I can't find the Startup Items folder on the library. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

Thx, mr applegate. I have tried that, but I can't find the StartupItems folder on my Library. I'm using ML and I just can't seem to locate that folder anywhere!

OK, I've located the folder under Macintosh HD/System/Library but the FanControlDaemon isn't there! Nor is the pref pane on the folder where it should be either.

I'm not sure, I have a /Library/StartupItems folder.
Are you maybe looking in ~/Library ?

I'm not sure, I don't use the program. According to the website it should be there. Maybe search for it on the hard drive.

it runs in 32bit. maybe those are sent somewhere else? argh, what a pain in the ass! this laptop is 3 years older. I hate to say this, but my very old Toshiba held out for 6 years without making any of these fan noises from hell!

PS. found them

Not sure, I think the folder is standard for startup items. I don't know where else it would be.

It seams like you might be looking in the Systems folder "Library" rather than the one found directly under your Mac hard drive

I have attached a picture to help :)

Does Fan Control 1.2 work on OS X 10.9 Mavericks on a 2013 15" Retina MacBook Pro? The temperature reading stays at 0C/32F for me. Other fan tools work.
