Hello,

I would like to purchase second-hand Mac Mini 2018 with serial number that yields with "Sorry, we’re currently unable to validate your purchase date."
Should I be worried about this and is there any other way of finding out which was the original config of the machine? With mentioned serial number.

Thank you...

I can't say for sure, but that could be perfectly legitimate: if the computer was purchased at a retailer then Apple wouldn't know the date it was sold.

The serial number won't provide any hardware configuration, it only gives you the product name, year, and number of Thunderbolt ports (on some models). It's best to ask the seller at this point.

Apple also about 3 (?) years ago changed to serial numbers that cannot be searched on any of the third-party sites that have databases showing possible original configuration (which has never been fully accurate, but should be close enough to show the info that you want to see.
Enter the serial number on this site, for example:

If it was purchased from a third party reseller, the date won’t show up.

Now is a good time to buy a M2 Mac mini based on the back to school promo.

Thank you all for the replies.
I took the MM i7 at the end and it seems legit.

Needed this machine as Windows machine.

Thanks again...
