Help needed with fan control

Hi, question for MacBook Pro 2019 13". I am looking for a good app for fan control. I have tried several but am not satisfied. Figured you guys could help me out!

iStat Menus: Great app and a keeper. For now the best app IMO for fan control. but, you have to create a full Manuel curve to make it less nervous. Still, it can feel a bit laggy because the curve uses 'temperature steps' so if your temp is moving above and beyond like 85 C, you can constantly hear the fan adjust and change speed.

Macs Fan Control: I love the function to automatically adjust the fan speed according to just 2 temperatures: one at with the fans start to speed up, and a second temperature as MAX setting. Downside: If I set the first temperature at 65 C - Macs fans control Always enables the fans, even at idling temperatures of 30 - 40 C. iStats (and Apple system) does not, they shut off the fans at low temperatures.

So, Macs Fan Control's auto function is great, but it will always enable my fan. For this reason, I do not use it anymore. Any thoughts / tips / advices?

This has nothing to do with 'messing with it'. Both apps will never go lower than the fan RPM the Apple system wants it to be, you can only make the fans RPM higher. The are plenty of arguments about wanting to have the RPM of your fan slightly higher.

I use Turbo Boost Switcher Pro and like it. I only use it to temporarily disable Turbo Boost in certain apps, which once I do, the fan usually shuts off pretty quickly. It does have fan control in Auto Mode though, but I haven't tried it

Have a look at TG Pro, more granular control when it comes to the fans using custom rules.

Turbo Boost Switcher Pro: Did the trail, does not seem to work on my machine? Button disable Turbo Boost does not do anything. Also did not find an option for fan control (maybe not in the trail?)

TG Pro: Checked it out, if I want to make custom rules, like in iStat menus, the rules completely override the fan settings because of the T2 chip. iStat menu's does not do that, iStat menu's wil never turn the fan RPM lower than the standard system wants. So that is a reason for me not to use TG Pro. I really liked the 'gradual time' slider in TG Pro, this makes the fans Rpm adjusting less 'laggy'

Any more thoughts?

I use Macs Fan Control because it is light. What are you using as the Sensor Based Value?

Why do you want to mess with it anyway?

Because fans are a couple bucks and a CPU is not.

I used: Built up RPM's starting at 65 C, max temp 90 C.

The problem is that when I used this setting, my fan would also (idle) spin at low temperatures like 40 C. But if I use iStat with a custom curve, the fan will be shutdown at low temperatures and will start spinning at 65 C. Which is also how it works from standard. MacBook Pro 2019 turns off the fan's at low temperatures.

Hm not sure why you having these issues with iStat. This is my setting, so every time Mac restarts it will stay on 2500 and then ramp up depending on the temp, and then ramp down to 2500, but that said I'm using Late 2013 MBP, will be getting 2020 MBP 5600m in couple of weeks so will try again.

Fans are never off.
