Hi All,

Before i tear my hair out I would appreciate any help with iCloud. Specifically notes. just spent two hours googling and given on the basis I am now even more confused.

Relevant info.
I have an iphone 5 that syncs via usb to a mac pro running snow leopard
I created a lot of notes on the iphone that I want to appear through iCloud on
A macbook air running mountain lion and my iPad.

I have created an icloud email and activated notes in icloud on both the iphone and the macbook air (Not done the ipad yet as I can't get it to work so waiting for a solution)

When i go to notes on the iphone I now can see accounts. One that says "From my mac" and one that says icloud

One note created on the macbook air has synced to my iPhone and is in the iCloud account. Yay
But all the notes originally created on the iphone and therefore in the "on my mac" folder have not synced to the icloud website or the macbook air.

In the notes settings on the iphone I have made the default account iCloud and when I create a new note on the iphone it does sync to the air. So how do I get the exiting notes to do the same?

thanks for any help

Josh

So was your iCloud account created after the notes?

Hi

sort of. My iCloud account has been active for ages for everything apart from notes and contacts. I hadn't activated these as they need an iCloud.com email and frankly just couldn't be bothered setting it up.

I am now away on holiday so have the time to do stuff and this morning I created an iCloud email and then activated notes and contacts in iCloud. Then I got duplicate contacts :mad:and then this issue with notes.

There's the issue. Because iCloud was off these existing notes are excluded. Easiest way to get them to sync is to open each one and just add a full stop to the end it'll then sync.

I've just tested this and it works fine

Hi

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately that didn't work and I suspect it is because I have an accounts button in notes on the iphone that says "on my mac" which in turn I suspect it is to do with the Mac Pro running snow leopard.

However your idea put me on the right track and what I did was email all the notes in the "on my mac" folder to myself and then copied and pasted into the mac air version of notes and they then appears in the iCloud folder on the iPhone. I then deleted everything in the "on my mac" folder.

Since then I have switched on notes on the iPad and it is all working nicely together. I can create and edit on any device and they are all updated

Thanks so much for the help. I almost have a fully working iCloud well apart from contacts which if I switch that on I get duplicate contacts on device and iCloud itself.

Best regards

Josh
