Help! Odd Mirroring Problem

Folks, I'm using an iPad2 and AppleTV2.

When I got to the Airplay button on the ipod controls, I get the option to select iPad or Apple TV but (!!) there is no option for mirroring (I've seen screenshots where there is a toggle switch for mirroring). As a result, I get some applications (like Real Racing 2) where AirPlay sends audio but no video to the AppleTV.

Any ideas????

i started to respond saying yes, yes, yes...since appleTVw as telling me that my software is up to date...but now realize that its running 4.1 so likely that is the issue...sorry for the stupidity.
