This is quite the horror story, and if I ever needed you guys' help, it's now...
this morning I rather dozily logged on to my mac, to discover my windows partition was full. long story short, I backed up the Windows drive to a DMG with the idea to re-boot camp my hard drive and then restore it to the larger volume.
Boot camp wouldn't resize my partition, but instead of going for iDefrag which may have taken hours, I decided to use iPartition to see if I could re-partition my drive myself.
Only god knows why.
I resized the internal HD partition, but kinda by accident, only dropping 10 gigs off, which was pretty much what i'd used for boot camp before. This whole process took about 2 seconds.
I then decided I should restore the drive to where it had been, defrag, and just let Boot Camp handle it.
So, I booted into Target Mode, connected my Powerbook and reset the partition to the largest size possible. iPartition warned me it might take some time.
2 hours later it'd only done 10%.
As I left to go to the cinema it was on 13%
When I got home it was still on 13%.
I thought "there's nothing for it, I'll have to quit and try and recover it"
I force quit iPartition, yanked out the cable, rebooted and of courrse, got the ? sign.
I loaded in the iPartition CD that I had made with the Coriolis Boot CD Maker, it said that it had detected an incomplete partitioning task. I told it to resume. It looked like it was working for about 5 seconds, then just gave up, leaving me with a totally empty hard drive.
Disk Warrior is no good, as it can't see any partitions to restore.
Do you guys have any idea how to get my data back? Some of the stuff on there is (stupidly) not backed up.
