HELP....Please..... (loaded Windows XP Pro, can't get back to Leopard)

Okay without reading all the instructions....

We loaded Windows XP Pro on our new iMAC, which has leopard. It only had service pack one. Now I can't get back to leopard. I just want to erase windows and move on. Please someone help. I have looked everywhere.

As you start up press and hold down the option button (alt) this should bring up a boot partition chooser select os x.

Try holding the OPTION key down while you are booting.

If it works correctly, you will be presented with the Leopard install and the Windows XP install.

Choose the Leopard install. Once booted, go into System Preferences then select the Startup Disc. Select Leopard.

Now when you want to go to Windows XP, just boot or restart and hold the OPTION key down. When you restart from Windows XP you will go back to Leopard.

That's what you get for not reading the instructions I guess. Just make sure what you did was NOT to install Windows over your Mac partition. Otherwise everything is gone then and you can't get back into Leopard without installing it all over again.

I sort of ended up with the same problem on my week old Macbook pro, so ditto on boot with option key, pref changes to startup, etc.

...the interesting thing is how I got to having the problem. I went to my dealer to get my Leopard upgrade (which we installed) and Windows XP Sp2 (which we installed under bootcamp/fat32 partition). It wouldn't work. Every time we tried to boot in windows from the startup, we got a windows disk error message at the upper left of a black screen. This went on and on.. so we removed the partition (and Windows), installed Parallels, Windows and then we are able get things going. The first cold boot is when I got stuck in a black screen with a Windows message in the upper left - rebooted, option key down & you know the rest...

Thing is, I would rather windows under Bootcamp. Any ideas & would you have tried again with another partition and windows install ? (instead of giving up like we did).
