help please (make the iphone vibrate longer?)

Hi I tried searching this, but is there a way to make the iphone vibrate longer when you get a text message or incoming call, I often miss calls or txt messages because I don't hear or feel the phone vibrate.

I know there's a notifier application, but is there a way to make it vibrate longer.

I am learning how to make custom ringtones so hopefully I can make them louder and creating my own sms call tone but haven't figured that out either.
