Hi there guys. I'm really hoping I can get some help here. I'm really hoping I don't have a virus or something.

I have an old iMac (it does me - well up till now) I think it's a G3, running OS 9.2.2. I've rarely had any problems with the machine till now, it's being very weird on me. Over probably the last week, when I go into Print it starts doing all these odd things. I would keep restarting, rebuilding the desktop, turning it off, speak to it nicely and eventually it would just print. I'm pretty sure it's not the printer.

Anyway, this is what happens, and in no particular order. I press print, either on desktop or in Word, and it quits. If I'm on the desktop, it comes up saying the Finder has quit. Then sometimes I get the little message Error 10. Then sometimes it says it can't find the Epson printer, please reinstall (which I did), but still nothing. Sometimes it says the printer dialog box is already open, please close, but then I have to restart.

Any clues to what's happening here?

And I finally managed to get it to print, so I am not going to turn my computer off again, until I get it sorted.

Does this sound like a virus, I haven't got any virus protection software

Most likely it is not a virus. However, just like you're saying, it's a very odd problem. I suggest that you check your printer driver. Go to Epson.com and download the latest one. Also, can you tell us what printer you're using?

I used OS 9 for a long time, but I'm starting to forget it, maybe someone else can be more helpful.

Good luck!

It's an Epson C43UX. I downloaded a new printer driver from epson.com.au because there didn't seem to be that model in the States. But it still did weird things. Then last night, all of a sudden it's now letting me print, so I just left it on overnight so I wouldn't have to go through all that again. The printer is only about 6 months old, it was a cheapy, before that I had the previous model.

The reason I didn't think it was the printer was because the problems occurs when I go to File - Print. Once I do that, it has a fit.
