..just got my self a new 15" MBP a month ago and thinking of getting a 24" display to go with it. But with the new Imacs that was just released im now debating of maybe getting a 21.5..If i get the 24" display, i would get a mini later on, thats the plan...What to do? I have a 20" Imac running on Leopard that im planning to sell to finance the display....thanks

The thread title, if one's vision is so-so, suggests a urinary tract issue . . . 
As for your hardware "problem" . . . it seems that you eventually want to wind up with a laptop and desktop computer. If you're set on purchasing a 20-24" external monitor for the laptop, then the "economical" choice would be to get a Mac Mini to share that monitor.
Only the 27" iMac accepts DVI "in" so if you opt for a 20, 21.5 or 24" iMac, you'll likely still need another panel for your laptop.
