I need help with posting or uploading pictures on the web. I have tried for months to upload pictures on various web sites and hosting pages with no success. I am either told the picture is in the wrong format or it simply doesn't show up. I have tried every picture format known to man and three different browsers (Explorer, Safari & Firebox) with no luck. My provider says it is a Java issue... my dealer is not sure what it is but they say it has nothing to do with Java? Can anyone help? I am running OS 10.3.8...

thanks!

In your head.
You need to give people more information.
1.) Sites to up load to.
2.) FTP or what method are you using to send pictures to the sites (site) listed?
3.) What have the sites FAQs and email support told you?
4.) What size are the pictures and what format are they?
5.) Is the firewall on?
6.) Why are you doing this? What's the purpose?
7.) Kind of computer, connection speed, method of Internet routing (modem to router, shared network, hotspot, etc). These shouldn't mater but they may help people trouble shoot your problem.
8.) What editing software are you useing to convert photographic formats.
9.) Are you reading and following the sites directions? If not, how are you differing from the set procedures?

Weird. Like someone else said, more information would not go amiss.
Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to check the permissions...

A Stoned Throw From Ground Zero
If you are trying to post a photo from your computer, one way is to use
Imageshack

http://www.imageshack.us/

You can upload the photo to them and then they will provide you with a URL
link to post.

To post an image from another site all you do is open that image in another window and then copy/paste that URL to your text window.
Then all you need to do is add the
afterwards.

So you end up with

mygreatphoto.jpg

When you preview your post the photo should show along with your text.

This is essentially what all the majors do. I know from personal experience that on a Mac with your OS level and either FF or Safari, Photobucket, Flickr, and PBase work fine, and from reading other people's posts, ImageShack and many others work fine too. I can't imagine that Java has anything to do with anything, although if you have Javascripting turned off, you might have trouble. (although who is your "dealer?" What's a dealer?) I don't even think you need any firewall ports open except for 80, in order to be able to use these sites.

The amount of effort you put into this sounds crazy. Slow down. Don't bother trying any image format other than JPG. Pick one of Safari or Firefox, and don't bother changing browsers to try to solve this issue.

One more question I'll add to the excellent list already given is, can you provide a full path name as an example for one of your files? Occasionally, the path and file name you have will cause issues with the scripting language because of lengths and/or because of differences in handling special characters. This is rare, but it is possible.

Thank you the helpful suggestions. I gave Image Shack a try and I was successful in uploading pictures. However, they only show up in black and white.
I can't seem to find any information on the site about this. Has anyone else had this problem?
Sorry about being so vague...I am new to this:
I am using a PowerMac G4-1ghz
My firewall is off
I have a dial up connection with an Apple 56k internal modem
I use Graphic Converter to format pictures
